Strawberry Banana pineapple Smoothie
I’m a smoothie girl. I could eat one everyday, especially when they are as good as this Aloha Tropical Smoothie! This Aloha Pineapple Smoothie tastes just like a Hawaiian vacation – refreshing, sweet, a little creamy, and beautiful.
Like most smoothie recipes, this is so simple and has my two favorite ingredients I love in all smoothies – strawberries and bananas!!
Even if you’re not going to a tropical paradise you can at least experience the refreshing deliciousness of this Aloha Tropical Smoothie in your own backyard. Nothing better than a yummy strawberry banana smoothie on a summer day. So delicious!
Just mix + Enjoy!
This Aloha Pineapple Smoothie has just 6 simple ingredients:
- pineapple
- strawberries
- banana
- yogurt
- ice
- juice
BLEND. Place all ingredients in the blender and puree until smooth.
Smoothie Formula
BANANA. I have a basic formula for making smoothies. Every smoothie I make has a banana. This provides the main sweetness to the smoothie. The riper the banana, the sweeter, the better!
YOGURT. I also always add low-fat vanilla Greek yogurt. This makes it creamy but is way healthier than ice cream or frozen yogurt and adds a lot of protein. We keep a huge container of it in our fridge at all times for our smoothies.
ICE. You don’t always have to use ice in your smoothies but it helps thicken it if you’re using fresh fruit. If using frozen fruit you can decrease the ice or eliminate it all together.
FRUIT. The nextpart of the formula, the main ingredient, is the fruit. I usually use 2 cups of fruit for every one cup of yogurt. You can really use any fruit combo you want or have on hand. In the case of thisAloha Pineapple Smoothie we’re using pineapple and strawberries. These two fruits are awesome for smoothies because both are really sweet, not tart like some other berries can be.
JUICE. For the final touch I add some sort of liquid to achieve a desired thickness. Most often I use apple juice because that’s what I have on hand but you can use any kind of juice. Or, if you want more protein/calcium you can add milk. The juice will add a little more sweetnessso that’s why I like it.
Tips, Variations + Storing Info
Choosing the best pineapple: When choosing the best pineapple, smell the bottom and see if it smells sweet. Another way to test it is to see how soft or firm it is. A ripe pineapple should give under your fingers slightly when you press down. One last test is to try to pull a leaf from the top of the fruit. If it comes out easily then it’s ripe and ready to eat!
Variations:
- Swap out the pineapple or apple juice in this recipe for orange juice, mango nectar, or coconut water.
- Instead of Greek yogurt feel free to use a dairy free option such as almond milk yogurt or coconut cream.
- Add a handful of spinach into this smoothie to make it more nutrient dense.
- Add a scoop of strawberry or vanilla protein powder.
- Add chia seeds, nutritional yeast, collagen and fiber for even more nutrients.
STORE leftovers in an airtight container making sure that it fits exactly right so there isn’t any headspace. I suggest adding a bit of lemon juice to the smoothie to help keep the color from turning brownish. Keep in the fridge. If the ingredients separate, simply throw it back into the blender.
Another idea for leftover smoothies is to FREEZE it in a popsicle mold. It makes a fun and delicious treat on a hot day.
