 Asian Games gold medallist Pawan Sehrawat and Pardeep Narwal will go under the hammer at the auction even as franchises retained 88 players ahead of the season 11 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). The franchises have retained a core group of players and are looking to build stronger units at the auctions slated to be held here on August 15 and 16. Those retained include the raider duo of Ashu Malik and Naveen Kumar by Dabang Delhi K.C.Puneri Paltan have held on to season 10's most valuable player award winner Aslam Inamdar while the Jaipur Pink Panthers have retained their star raider Arjun Deshwal.A total of 88 players were retained across three categories with 22 from the Elite Retained Players (ERP) category, 26 in the Retained Young Players (RYP) category and 40 in the Existing New Young Players (ENYP).The non-retained players include Maninder Singh, Fazel Atrachali and Mohammadreza Shadloui Chiyaneh.For the auction, the domestic and overseas players will be divided into four categories: A, B, C and D. The players will be further sub-divided as โ€˜All-Rounders', โ€˜Defenders' and โ€˜Raiders' within each category.The base prices for each of the categories are: Category A โ€“ Rs 30 Lakh, Category B โ€“ Rs 20 Lakh, Category C โ€“ Rs 13 Lakh, Category D โ€“ Rs 9 Lakh.The player pool will consist of 500 players.     Redesign: App UFC Fight PassBelow you can see the importance of a simple, clear, and objective interface. On the left, you see the current interface of the UFC Fight Pass app, and on the right, you see the redesign of this app created by me.The UFC Fight Pass is a streaming app for the UFC franchise, and the main goal of the user in this app is to view the fights from the franchise events.The main interface of the current app aims to highlight only a sequence of the upcoming fights in this franchise. But upon analyzing the user's objectives on this platform, I aimed to develop a new one aligned with the company's values.I began this project by making the interface cleaner, eliminating some texts and icons. Later, I highlighted some free fights for non-subscriber users.โ—ผ The goal of this section was to convert non-subscriber users into subscribers through the principle of reciprocity.And in the third section, I showcased the upcoming franchise events, with a sequence starting from the date, in a sideways scrolling format.Finally, I highlighted some exclusive content for subscribers, so that the user feels drawn to the content enough to subscribe to watch these fights.โ—ผ The objective is for the system's algorithm in this section to deliver the most-watched fights by its subscribers. And thereby attract more users.As you can see, the design of the main interface should be sophisticated, clear, and objective, and it should deliver to the user what they desire. Ha makes the whole game a lot more fun.I grew up in the 90's when #competition and competing was still cool.The Packers had Bret Favre Competing for a 2nd SuperbowlThe Bulls had Michael Jordan. Competing for like his 7th championship.Detroit had the Redwings. Chasing the cup.WWF had Hulk Hogan. Chasing the belt.We had the Dream teamWe had iconic brands like And 1 for basketball and No Fear for motocross.We had t-shirts with slogans like about "Surgeon general didn't say anything about smoking the competition" Glorious competition was everywhere and openly encouraged.Those who competed were appreciated for their efforts win or lose. Respect was given just for playing the game.They provide entertainment for those on the sidelines. And an opponent for other competitors.So I have always competed in sport, business and life overall with joy and happiness. I believe in winners and losers because I have been both many times.And mainly the competition is with myself. So business is great because like sport I get compete against others. Not just against myself.Joy in competition is consistent and comes from the process of training, improving being disciplined, having a team I care about out.etc.Happiness in competition is temporary and comes from outcomes when we score or win in the actual game.#competing is still respected by many. But a concerning amount of people are starting to think of it as a negative.Being competitive is being confused with toxic hustle culture. And that's a shame.I have heard parents even state they don't want their kid in sports because it will make them too competitive...     Have you ever wondered how does IPL earn money for the franchisees, and the BCCI? IPL is not just a competition, but a pool of money which is shared by BCCI, and the franchises. As the Tata IPL 2024 is set to begin today, here are some revenue streams through which various stakeholders earn revenue:๐Ÿ๐๐ซ๐จ๐š๐๐œ๐š๐ฌ๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐  ๐‘๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ง๐ฎ๐ž ๐’๐ก๐š๐ซ๐ž Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) sells broadcasting rights to various broadcasters. The revenue collected from selling these rights is shared between the BCCI and the franchises. For the year 2023- 27, the digital rights have been sold for a total of Rs.44,075cr.๐Ÿ๐’๐ฉ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ก๐ข๐ฉ The sponsorship deals account for various brand logos to be appeared on the jersey, bats, accessories, title sponspors, etc. Some revenues are shared between BCCI and the franchises, while some are solely accounted by the franchises. ๐Ÿ ๐Œ๐ž๐ซ๐œ๐ก๐š๐ง๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ž ๐’๐š๐ฅ๐žThis involves the sale of jerseys, hats, accessories, etc to the fans to support their favorite teams๐Ÿ ๐€๐ฎ๐œ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐’๐š๐ฅ๐žThe auction results in a profit for the teams when they are able to sell the player at a price above their cost price. ๐Ÿ ๐๐ฅ๐š๐ฒ๐ž๐ซ ๐ž๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฆ๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ฌAs IPL kicks in, we see a lot of ads related to the companies sponsoring such teams.
